Lend Your Voice For Justice CLINIC ATTORNEY You will provide essential legal advice and counsel to VLSH clients in out Honolulu, Waimanalo, Waipahu, or Neighbor Island (Kona, Hilo, Maui, and Kaua'i) clinics. We offer family and general law clinics and conduct workshops in thefollowing areas: pro se bankruptcy, pro se divorce, employment, landlord/tenant, consumer, tax, nonprofit and special events clinics as needed. Pick a time / location that suits your schedule:HOTLINE ATTORNEY You will be available to the VLSH staff to consult regarding a legal question or for a client who needs to speak to an attorney regarding an emergency situation. As a hotline attorney, you will also conduct virtual clinics via telephone for clients who are unable to come to our facilities or cannot wait for a regularly scheduled clinic. MENTOR ATTORNEY You can share your expertise by mentoring an attorney through a case. Your presence as a mentor attorney in a specific area of law will allow VLSH to more readily recruit attorneys who are interested in taking pro bono cases in specific areas of law with the support of a mentor. As a mentor attorney, you will only be asked to be available to consult with the pro bono attorney. You will have no direct contact or relationship with the client. PRO SE SUPPORT ATTORNEY You will review documents, orders, etc. filed or needing to be filed by pro se clients. The documents will be provided to VLSH by the pro se litigant and faxed to you. You can advise the client by phone or in person. PRO BONO ATTORNEY You will represent indigent clients in either an uncontested case or a more comples case. You will have the support of a mentor attorney if needed, and VLSH will recruit paralegal / intern support if needed. TRAINING ATTORNEY You will donate your expertise in specialized areas of law during trainings scheduled and staffed by VLSH. YOUNG FAMILIES-IN-NEED CONSULTING ATTORNEY As a consulting attorney for pregnant and parenting teen, you will be partnered with a GRADS class at a school near your work or home. We ask that you meet with the teenagers in their class twice a semester. The GRADS teacher may call you occasionally about specific questions his/her students may have. You will be supported by the NA Keiki Law Center (NKLC) project coordinator. If you determine that a minor needs further services, including mediation, family conferencing, domestic violence counseling or attorney representation in court, NKLC will make those referrals. You will be provided with some educational materials as well as intoductory materials about your GRADS students. PLEASE
